Dance Walk on National Dance Day - Site Specific

Celebrate National Dance Day with a guided walk through Fort Tryon Park to see site-specific performances woven into the landscape of the Parkland. Uptown Dance Collective's 4th annual immersive, multi-disciplinary arts production titled "Alterations and Repairs: Nature and Us," takes place on September 19th, 2026 from 3 PM to 5 PM. We will meet at Dongan Lawn in Fort Tryon Park at 3 PM—the park entrance is at Dongan Place and Broadway.
Uptown Dance Collective artists Lisa Green, Amy Kail, and Navarra Novy-Williams will be joined by Shanik Garcia, Juan Usera, Paul Thompson, and Rishauni Mari. This group of dance artists collectively draws from diverse traditions including Afro-Brazilian, Afro-Puertorican, and European and U.S.-based Modern Dance in creating and performing their dances. John Ehlis, Matthew Gonzales and Jessica Lurie perform original music on Saxophone, Flute, Guitar and Drums; poets Alison Stone and Peter Bulow share poems created for the day. Student dancers from The Center Dance Studio in Inwood will also join us this year!
