Mystical Feet Company presents the New York premiere of Dancing Into Roses from October 23 through November 1, 2026 at JACK in Brooklyn, New York (20 Putnam Avenue, Brooklyn, NY, 11238). Performances: October 23, 25, and November 1 at 2pm; October 24, 27, 29-31 at 7:30pm. Tickets start at $20 and can be purchased HERE.
In 1983, a New York City dancer is hired to bring the latest, hottest disco dances to Germany. In 2018, the same dancer returns to Germany and performs a dance protest on the site of a synagogue burned down on Kristallnacht and turned into a recreational party site. Yehuda L. Hyman is that dancer. Using dance, comedy, and pathos, Hyman tells the true story of his quest to find the dance that transforms pain into happiness.

Yehuda L. Hyman is a playwright, choreographer, and actor. He is the Artistic Director of Mystical Feet Company. His plays include The Mar Vista, The Mad Dancers, Center of the Star, Swan Lake Calhoun, I Ask You, Ladies and Gentlemen (from Leon Surmelian's memoir), David in Shadow and Light (co-written with Daniel Hoffman), The Mad 7, and Max, Rapunzel & the Night. His work has been produced at McCarter Theatre, Mark Taper Forum, San Diego Repertory Theater, Theater J, Actor’s Theatre of Louisville (ATL), and The Marsh. Honors include the Kennedy Center Fund for New American Plays Award, the NEA/TCG Playwright-in-Residence Grant (with Cornerstone Theater of Los Angeles), the Jerome Fellowship, the Heideman Award, and grants from the Center for Jewish Culture. He received his MFA in Dance in 2014 from Sarah Lawrence College and has taught there, as well as at Indiana State University, USC, UCLA, and in NYC public schools. Yehuda recently acted in Target Margin Theater's production Remember this Trick, directed by David Herskovits, and in Eno River Players' Twelve Minor Prophets, directed by Leo Egger. He currently teaches Devised Theater at the Manhattan School of Music.
Leo Egger is a director and playwright interested in make-believe. He is the Founding Artistic Director of the Eno River Players, a Brooklyn theater company devoted to make-believe.
He has directed numerous classics (by Gogol, Williams, Shakespeare, and more) as well as originals. He wrote and directed original adaptations of Gogol’s Dead Souls, Plato’s Phaedo, and, with Charlie Mayhew, Robert Burton’s The Anatomy of Melancholy and Twelve Minor Prophets from the Bible. Charlie and Leo are currently working on a musical about love.
He has worked at Target Margin Theater as an assistant director for David Herskovits, most recently on Remember This Trick. In addition to TMT, He has worked at Here Arts Center, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, Mercury Store, La Mama Experimental Theatre, 14th-Street Y (LABA fellow), Krymov Lab NYC, Culture Lab LIC, and the David Geffen School of Drama. Born and raised in Durham, NC, Leo studied at the Durham School for the Arts and Yale University. About Mystical Feet Company
Bare stage, bared souls, bare feet. Mystical Feet is a dream, a dance, a vision of artists creating transformational experiences to give to you. Artistic Director, Yehuda Hyman created the idea of Mystical Feet in 2014, inspired by an image from a 19th Century tale, The 7 Beggars by Rabbi Nachman of Breslov. Nachman was a Hasidic master who lived in Ukraine. The end of The 7 Beggars suggests that the rectification of the world will come about through the most exquisite dance which will be performed by a dancer with no feet. The first production of Mystical Feet was The Mar Vista, a theatrical memoir in dance and text about the life of Yehuda's mother, Sara. It began development in 2014 and premiered in 2015 with subsequent productions in 2017 and 2018. The second production was Secret of the Possible, a devised work, adapted from three 18th Century Hasidic tales. It premiered in December 2022. The third production was The Dancing Room, a work created and performed by Yehuda L. Hyman that featured clarinetist, Margot Leverett. Directed and developed by Michael Leibenluft.
