45th Anniversary Celebration Performance

Benita Bike’s DanceArt, Los Angeles’ 5-member chamber modern dance company, celebrates its 45th season of dance April 25 & 26 at the lovely Lineage Performing Arts Center, 920 E. Among the multitude of dance expressions in Southern California, Benita Bike’s DanceArt holds a special place as a company working in the modern dance style/state-of-mind. The Company strives to create expressive movement that fills the space architecturally with line and design. This 45th Anniversary show will feature concert works created between 2017 and 2026:
▪ Premiere of Flock Struck, set to gamelan music and an original composition by Dean Wallraff.
▪ From Where I Sit – Different characters share their states of mind in vignettes titled “Ascending,” “Tired of it All,” “Corruptor,” “Solace,” & “On Edge.”
▪ Aspects of Me – A celebration of the complexity of self with solos and duets titled “Me and Myself,” “Me and the Branch,” “Me and Her,” and “We.”
▪ Schoenfield Dances – with music that melds early 20th century popular dance styles - rag, shuffle, and boogie - with a classical movement sensibility
▪ Excerpt from Benches – People in a park playing, talking, relaxing
