JJDC presents its new work, Adultification, at Arts On Site on Sunday, October 26th at 4:30pm and 6:30pm.

Jamal Jackson Dance Company’s (JJDC) ADULTIFICATION refers to the racial bias in which people perceive black children as older and less innocent than other children. Black boys can be seen as responsible for their actions at an age when most boys still benefit from the assumption that children are innocent. This work explores the joy we can and should see in young black children and juxtaposes it with the forced adulthood set upon these young black lives.

Adultification was made possible by the New England Foundation for the Arts' National Dance Project, with lead funding from the Doris Duke Foundation and the Mellon Foundation.

Support for the Project was provided by Danse Mirage Foundation, Inc.
