Moving dance legacies into the 21st century has brought new challenges to tradition with probing questions around gender, identity, inclusivity, and the many modes of participation in the practice of learning and performing dance works of the past.
Join us for a discussion with four innovative dance artists who have been moving beyond existing definitions to bring their authentic selves to enliven and transform dance history. The panel will be led by moderator Meg Brooker (Director of the School of Performing and Visual Arts at The University of Southern Mississippi). This event kicks off the acknowledgement of the 150th anniversary of Isadora Duncan’s birth in 2027.

Dante Puleio - artistic director, Limón Dance Company
Ian Spencer Bell - dancer/choreographer, performs works of Duncan and Merce Cunningham
Amelia Sanders - participant in the Duncan legacy since childhood and currently a Master of Education candidate at Hunter College, CUNY
François Chaignaud - dancer, choreographer, vocalist- is an associate artist at Chaillot - Théâtre National de la Danse in Paris as well as the Maison de la danse and the Biennale de la danse de Lyon.
This webinar is hosted by the newly formed Duncan Legacy Project and is part of events and activities acknowledging Duncan’s 150th birthday in 2027.
