Celebrate National Dance Day with an immersive, multi-disciplinary arts experience in Fort Tryon Park! Walk the Broadway path and encounter Uptown Dance Collective’s (UDC) “Tales: Altered and Repaired” inspired by folk and fairy tales with dance, music, and spoken word all woven into the landscape of the parkland.
UDC dance artists Lisa Green, Amy Kail, Navarra Novy-Williams, Sandra Rivera, and Maxine Steinman’s influences include Butoh, Ballet, Folk, Latinx Folklorico, Flamenco, Modern, and Afro-Caribbean. Musicians John Ehlis, and Jessica Lurie join them on Saxophone, Flute, Guitar, and Percussion; and poet Paul Rabinowitz shares original poetry. This event brings the arts to the outdoors—inviting you to move, witness, and connect.
“Tales: Altered and Repaired” is made possible with support from Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone (UMEZ), The Harkness Foundation for Dance, and The Medical Center Neighborhood Fund and a Partnership with The Fort Tryon Trust.
